- Take 2 medium Onion (piyaz)sliced

- Take Half tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi powder)
- Get 1/2 cup whisked yogurt (dahi)
- Take 2-3 Potatoes (aalo)large (half boiled) -
- Take 3 &1/2 cup or as needed Water (pani)
- Take 500 gms (soaked for 30 mins Rice (chawal)
- Make ready 3-4 Green chilies (sabz mirch)
- Take 1/4 cup Fresh coriander(zabz dhania)
- Get 1 tsp Whole Species (garam masala)
- Prepare 1/2 tspNutmeg & mace powder (jaifil jaivitri powder)
For a variation, you can also include some peas. Tahari- the Yellow Rice with Potatoes. Ever since I can remember, my mom always made Tahari when we needed comfort food. We always had it if someone Tahari, in my mind, became synonymous with comfort and feeling better.
Instructions to make Potato Tahari (Aalo pulao):
- In pot, add oil and onion,saute little. -Add bay leaf,cinnamom stick,black pepper corns,cumin,cloves and black cardamom,saute mix it.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.
- Add tomatoes and give it a good mix. Add salt,red chilli powder and turmeric powder,mix it -Now add yogurt and mix well.
- Add potatoes (half boiled) and green peas (half boiled),mix it and add water,bring it to boil.
- Add rice (soaked for 35-45 mins),mix it and cook on high flame until water dries up. -Add green chilies,fresh coriander,whole spice powder,nutmeg & mace powder,
- Cover and simmer for 15minutes. Now Serve with mint chutney & Salad
